Trauma Innovations Network worldwide collaboration
Our work spans multiple disciplines - from neuroscience and psychotherapy to digital health, policy development, and trauma-informed care - with a focus on uniformed professionals - reflecting our belief that meaningful progress arises from collaboration and bold innovation.

A strong foundation in leadership and expertise

TIN was founded as a hub where expertise from diverse fields converges to bridge the gap between trauma science and real-world impact. With a foundation built on Eric Vermetten’s training in the U.S. with leaders in PTSD research, and his clinical experience with military and NATO partnerships, TIN is rooted in military mental health.

Eric’s leadership as Head of Research at Military Mental Health Care (MGGZ) within the Dutch Ministry of Defense, as well as his work with ARQ National Trauma Center/Centrum ’45, and Professorship at Leiden University Medical Center has shaped a solid base to forward thinking and underscored our commitment to personalized, culturally competent, and neurobiologically informed care.

Global collaboration for global Impact

Collaborations with the United Nations, NATO, and professional networks including ECNP, CINP, and ACNP, ISTSS, ESTSS provide a strong foundation for TIN’s global activities. Building on contributions to the UN Mental Health Strategy for Uniformed Professionals, this work also extends to Ukraine and other war-affected areas, connecting science, clinical practice, policy, and implementation to advance innovative trauma care and create real-world impact. ‘Global challenges demand shared knowledge, bold collaboration, and action.’

Endegeest Institute (under construction)

The Endegeest Institute is a dedicated research and clinical center committed to advancing the understanding and treatment of trauma-related disorders. Located in the historic estate of Endegeest Castle, just outside Leiden, the Netherlands, the institute draws inspiration from a setting long associated with knowledge and healing.

Endegeest Castle, dating back to the 13th century, has a storied history as a noble residence, a center for mental health care, and more recently as a hub for scientific and clinical innovation. It was once the residence of the renowned Dutch philosopher René Descartes, symbolizing a legacy of inquiry and transformation.

Connect and collaborate with Trauma Innovations Network

Trauma Innovations Network (TIN) brings together people, ideas, and organizations committed to advancing innovative, science-based approaches to trauma-related mental health. Building on our work across neuroscience and psychotherapy, digital health and technology, policy and advocacy, trauma-informed care, and international collaboration, we welcome connections that can help translate promising ideas into meaningful impact.

We invite researchers, clinicians, innovators, policymakers, patient and professional organizations, technology partners, funders, and industry to connect with us. This may involve joining an existing TIN initiative, developing a research or clinical collaboration, contributing specialist expertise, or bringing forward a new project or idea that could benefit from an interdisciplinary network.

Bring an idea or project to TIN
We are particularly interested in initiatives that address unmet needs in trauma prevention, assessment, treatment, recovery, or implementation. Projects may range from an early concept requiring scientific or strategic development to established programmes seeking partners, international collaboration, evaluation, or pathways towards implementation. TIN can help bring together the relevant expertise and explore whether an idea can be developed into a collaborative project, research programme, clinical innovation, consortium, or other initiative
